Songs of the Auvergne is an arrangement of traditional folk songs by Joseph Canteloube.  I first heard these years ago. Someone had taped a version (I have no idea who the singer was, I have it in my head that it was maybe Kathleen Ferrier) and given it to my husband.  I loved them and when the tape started to wear out I went and bought this recording of them by Kiri Te Kanawa Over the years it has degraded and by the time I copied it on to my PC (where I listen to most of my music these days) all but the first few tracks were skipping.  Kiri Te Kinawa recently announced her retirement and this finally prompted me to order a new copy of the album I had.  It’s actually a double album but I tend to listen to just the first disc as I prefer it to the second.
