One Thing Leads To Another

Almost a year one of my favourite WoW bloggers posted a song on his blog and having really enjoyed it I tracked it down and bought the album.

Not long afterwards I was chatting about music with a Swedish friend, Thomas, in WoW and mentioned Silly Wizard and offered to send him a couple of tracks.  he loved them and came back with a “If you like that, you’ll love this”…it was Afro Celt Sound System.

Having bought the first 2 ACSS albums, I was entering them on  a FaceBook music application.  It showed me other people who had those albums and, of course, I started clicking and looking at other people’s music collections.  This album cover caught my eye and I clicked on it.  Along with the album info it pulled up a song from the album on YouTube.  I loved it!  Once I’d bought it, I sent a couple of tracks to Thomas and, as is his way, he sent me back a couple of tracks of something else.

The something else turned out to be Hedningarna.  I have eventually aquired several of their albums and thoroughly enjoyed them all.  Whilst I was waiting for them to arrive I would hit YouTube and listen to some of their tracks.  Unfortunately they also do a kind of “if you like that, you might like this” kind of thing.

That was how I found Kroke.  It was around this time that Amazon started offering mp3 downloads.  It was fatal!  Not only could I have listen to samples from each track on the album, I could buy and download it there and then.  Instant gratification, how could I resist?

When I enthused to Thomas about Hedningarna he sent me a link to North Side.  Oh dear, oh dear.  Not only did I find some more great music but I found myself at back Amazon.  I suppose it’s a good job I’ve never turned on the 1-click feature, it would be even easier to spend more money than I really should.  I ended up with the following (not all at once, some went on my wish list and David treated me at Christmas) :

I’m glad BBB doesn’t post music very often, I’m not sure I can afford it!  The albums featured here were all aqcuired as a direct result of his post, however once I started exploring I came across other things along the way that I just had to have.  Amazon have had a good year out of me and I’ve had to resolve to stay away from YouTube…for a little while anyway ;)
