One Thing Leads To Another

Almost a year one of my favourite WoW bloggers posted a song on his blog and having really enjoyed it I tracked it down and bought the album.

The Same but Different

This week’s music post is later than I wanted but real life interfered and although I knew what I wanted to post I just couldn’t find the time to sit down and do it.  This week’s music is from just 2 albums.  Although very different both albums had the same attraction for me, music I was already very familiar with played in a way I wasn’t used to hearing them.  Incidentally I came across both whilst listening to ClassicFM. I don’t listen to the radio much apart from travelling to and from work.  On weekdays I usually listen to Radio 2 because I really like to listen to Sarah Kennedy in the morning; she’s just right for such an ungodly hour and always manages to make me smile.  In the evenings, if I’m heading in on nights it’s Chris Evans or whatever happens to be on if I’m heading home from a day shift.  At weekends though (and occasionally in the evening if I don’t like what ever’s on after 7pm) I listen to ClassicFM although the ads irritate the life out of me they irritate me less than Mo Dutta, there’s something about his voice that’s like chalk on a blackboard and it sets my teeth on edge.

Not So Much Changing As Changed!

I went back to see my GP on Monday night to get the results of my blood test expecting to be told I am pre-menopausal.  The results were a bit of a surprise…apparently I appear to have gone through the menopause and be coming out the other side.  The test I had measures FSH levels and she said that if it was in the twenties I would be considered menopausal.  My level was 108!  I think the reason I was most surprised is because when I was referred to a gynaecologist less than 3 years ago I asked her if the trouble I was having with my periods was the start of the menopause; she laughed derisively and told me it would be years before I hit the menopause – I was gutted at the time.

Album Cover Meme

Well I didn’t get tagged but I saw this over at Softi’s and couldn’t resist!  I think it came out rather well.  I’m not going to tag anyone but if you want to make your own album cover the rules are very simple.

All Our Yesterdays

Last weekend I was over at Ro’s site and found myself browsing through the mp3 player in his side bar (I am very envious, I wish I could find one for WordPress that would hold that many songs!).  I started listening to stuff and then, as if by magic, found myself at Amazon ordering a stack of CDs.  All stuff that I used to have on vinyl at one time that is either gone or so warped now it’s unplayable.  I had planned something completely different for my mp3 player this weekend but now you will have a selection from my new acquisitions.

Martyn Bennett

For this week’s musical offering I knew I wanted to include a couple of tracks by Martyn Bennett but when it came down to it, I just couldn’t pick 2 or 3.  Sadly this wonderful musician died tragically young.  It’s impossible not to listen to his music and yearn to know how he would have developed and progressed.  Most of the tracks are taken from his album Grit, written when he was dying.
