I love gadgets and gizzmos. I also love them on my blog and have installed an mp3 player on my sidebar. I’d like to try and change the music regularly. probably a couple of different tracks of 4 or 5 different albums. I spend a lot of time at my PC and every second of that is plugged into some music! Hopefully people will find stuff that they haven’t come across before but also maybe you’ll hear something and do a “if you like that, you’ll love this” kind of thing.
The first 2 tracks are from the album rodrigo y gabriela by (you guessed it!) Rodrigo y Gabriela. I have no idea where I first came across this, I think I came across a snatch of it somewhere and had had it on my Amazon wish list for about 2 years. I finally treated myself last Christmas, I’d received an Amazon voucher and they had just introduced their mp3 download offerings. I love the energy and vibrancy of the music. When I first heard it I though there must be more than 2 guitars, percussion etc but it really is just the two of them. There are some vids on YouTube where Gabriela actually demonstrates how she does it and they’re amazing to watch.
Next up there is Afro Celt Sound System and a couple of tracks from their album Seed. I was introduced to them by a friend I play WoW with (It’s all your fault Orgs!) and was instantly hooked. I now have 4 out of their 5 albums and it’s only a matter of time until I get the last one (it’s actually their 3rd album I don’t have). There are so many layers to their music, I hear something different every time I listen to it.
Tracks 5 and 6 are from a compilation album of female Scandinavian artists called Wizard Women of the North. Orgs is also responsible for introducing me to Scandinavian folk music…he’s costing me a fortune but Amazon are happy!! It’s a great album, some tracks are instrumental, others are songs. Sadly I don’t understand the words to the songs but they still sound great.
7 and 8 are by the band mentioned in my previous post, Uiscedwr. They were great live and of course I had to buy a couple of their albums. Crucked Reels is from their latest album, Fish Cat Door and Forever My Beloved is from Naked and Dangerous which isn’t available on Amazon but you can get it from their site.
The last two tracks are from the soundtrack to a film called Vengo. I came across it on YouTube and had to find out more. I wasn’t that impressed by the film, the plot is flimsy and it feels like the film only exists to showcase the music however the music is glorious!
